چکیده
Calculations of the one-hole spectral function of 16 O for small missing energies are reviewed. The self-consistent Green's function approach is employed together with the Faddeev equations technique in order to study the coupling of both particle-particle and particle-hole phonons to the single-particle motion. The results indicate that the characteristics of hole fragmentation are related to the low-lying states of 16 O and an improvement of the description of this spectrum, beyond the random phase approximation, is required to understand the experimental strength distribution. A first calculation in this direction that accounts for two-phonon states is discussed. §

The Feshbach theory of the optical potential naturally leads to a microscopic description of scattering in terms of the many-body self-energy. We consider a recent calculation of this quantity for O and study the possibility of applying it at astrophysical energies. The results obtained for the phase shifts and the O(p,γ) capture suggest that such studies are feasible but the calculations requi...

Knowledge of the γ-ray branching ratios of the 7.12-MeV state of 16 O is important for the extrapolation of the 12 C(α,γ) 16 O cross section to astrophysical energies. Ground state transitions provide most of the 12 C(α,γ) 16 O total cross section while cascade transitions have contributions of the order of 10-20%. Determining the 7.12 → 6.92-MeV branching ratio will also result in a better ext...

Accurate calculations of the binding energies, the hyperfine splitting , the bound-electron g-factor, and the parity nonconservation effects in heavy few-electron ions are considered. The calculations include the relativistic, quantum electrodynamic (QED), electron-correlation, and nuclear effects. The theoretical results are compared with available experimental data. A special attention is foc...

متن کامل0 O ct 2 00 3 Self - consistent treatment of the self - energy in nuclear matter
The influence of hole-hole propagation in addition to the conventional particle-particle propagation, on the energy per nucleon and the momentum distribution is investigated. The results are compared to the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (BHF) calculations with a continuous choice and conventional choice for the single-particle spectrum. The Bethe-Goldstone equation has been solved using realistic N N ...
